공개 임상시험(open-label trial)이란?

​공개 임상시험(open-label trial, open trial)은 임상시험의 일종으로, 임상시험 참가자에게 정보를 숨기지 않는 시험이다. 특히 연구자와 참여자(환자) 모두 어떤 치료법이 시행되고 있는지 알고 있다. 이것은 편견을 줄이기 위해 정보를 주지 않는 맹검 시험과 대조된다.

​공개 임상시험은 어떤 것이 가장 효과적인지 결정하기 위해 매우 유사한 두 가지 치료법을 비교하는 데 적합할 수 있다. 약물 치료와 물리 치료의 효과를 비교하는 시험에서는 공개 임상시험이 불가피할 수 있다.
